Q. How does Sealtech prepare the asphalt for sealcoating?
A. Prior to application of sealcoat, the surface shall be thoroughly cleaned of all dirt and moss using scrapers and blowers. A power driven vacuum sweeper (355 Tennant Sweeper) will then be used to collect all loose and objectionable material. The unit shall be equipped with a holding tank so all waste may be removed from the site to a proper dumpsite. Pressure washing is not acceptable for cleaning.
Q. How is the sealcoat material applied?
A. Sealtech applies the material in a standard two coat application with a mechanically-driven SP300 Dual Spray/Squeegee machine. The first coat application rate is 60 to 70 square feet per gallon for the undiluted product. The second combined 2 coat application coverage is 30 to 35 square feet per gallon. Those areas not machine accessible should be sealcoated by broom application to prevent any sealcoat material from entering basins or damaging structures.
Q. What sealcoat material is used?
A. Sealtech uses all of Armor Seal's products (or requested equivalent).
Q. What is the drying time of sealcoat?
A. One to two hours should be allowed between the first and second coats (or until asphalt is dry to touch). After the second coat, the asphalt should not be driven on for 24 hours to allow time for the material to cure properly.
